One must imagine Sisyphus happy

The opposite of depression isn’t happiness, it’s vitality.

Andrew Solomon

When you’re feeling depressed, you might feel like there’s a veil between you and the world, but you might also feel that another veil has been lifted: that veil of foolish happiness that makes anyone else look away from the depressive nature of reality to try to stay “sane”.

What we are expressing is not illness, but insight. It our awareness that causes our concern. What’s really extraordinary is that most of us do know about those big existential questions about life, yet they don’t distract the people around us very much.

In facts, you break out of depression when you choose to ignore the inherent lack of meaning in everything.
